loook! culture!!!

went to the "Monet to Picasso" exhibit at UMFA with Oma on Friday (we qualified it as "art therapy" because being "homebound" she's really not supposed to go "out" - BUT she can go to church and/or get her hair done - neither of which does she do so we talked the nurse into this instead)
The kids enjoyed the exhibit and it was a nice overall lesson on what the impressionist/expressionist movement was about - Max enjoyed the revolutionary aspect.

In general, I was hoping for more; more "famous" stuff...more Monet (I was lucky enough to see an exhibit of several water lilly paintings in London waaaay back in the late 80's) but I would have liked more Picasso & Van Gogh too....all in all a good exhibit though, well curated I thought and edumacational for the kidlettes.

Below, a few of our favorite pieces

Max was especially excited to see THE Thinker

Max's favorite painting, by Monet (reminds me of the little match girl)

And this one's Molly's favorite, by Tissot, she was "amazed" at how real the dress looks!
