oh bestill my beating heart....

It's been a busy weekend...I reorganized and "studio-fied" my craft area (I'll take some pictures tomorrow) now I feel all offical-like and organized....not much else to report.

I spent this morning mocking my mil's new "fanny pack" - I told her she has to wear it in the front and give a pelvic thrust whenever she meets a nice looking lady...and it was recently decided by my son and I that I would have an NC 17 rating if I were a movie (due to strong language and underlying sexual content) (LGK points out that I even drop f-bombs at farmer's market!! I need to get a handle on that)

Anyhoo...wasn't going to do any blogging today because we're gathering the fam for movie night but this caught my eye on Yahoo music news and I just had to share....Clay-mates rejoice!!

"OK, faint-of-heart/stomach readers, we hope you're sitting down for this doozy: Clay Aiken is going to be a father. Of a baby. A baby being carried by a woman. A woman named...Jaymes. "

but frankly I fail to see why this would be surprising after seeing this photo...

today's kewl thing(z)...

Not a day goes by that I don't find something kewl on this here interweb...since I've become involved in etsy.com I am constantly inspired by my fellow artists/crafters...

I came across this guy by accident when googleimagesearching "crayons"
He also does really wierd organic looking "inaction figures"...he lists the materials for this as "polymer clay and prozac"

And I'm not a fan of gardening (what with the outside and the dirt and the pollen) but I could become a fan of Gorilla Gardening

One of my favorite stories was about a Portland woman who made a Mercedes symbol (in front of the nation's oldest Mercedes dealership) into a peace sign!

And it stayed there for over 3 weeks...

PEEPS!!!

Introducing Molly's birthday present......Peeps!
Molly says she looks like a brown rat that got dipped in white chocolate (and she has a little "drip" of white on her head) Girl and Rat have bonded very thoroughly and quickly...
The Cat is morbidly intrigued though, so...for the first time in ever, my daughter is sleeping with her bedroom door closed to keep Peeps safe. She still sleeps on the floor as she has for over a year now... but at least she's not halfway in the hallway....turning 8 is quite a milestone!
funny...I was just lamenting the amount of aerosol cans we have out on our deck (you wouldn't believe the amount of spraypaint we go through in this house between LGK and my many projects) it looks like an entire gang of taggers has taken residence on our patio...but I thought to myself: "self, those don't seem like the kind of thing you should just put in the regular trash...."
then...lo and behold I received a flier in my emai this morning for a hazmat waste collection day next week. kewl

if you don't live in the area...you should check and see if your area has a similiar event.

ferret love...

Meet Malcolm (Reynolds) and Sly (Stallone)
my lovely friend Ashley's ferret friends and the two cutest mustelids I've ever had the pleasure of knowing. They came to market last weekend...and the little old lady thought they were "from Mars" - she'd never seen such a thing!!!! (she also thought Ashley was my daughter...but that's another rant for another day)
speaking of small mammals...tomorrow is my baby girl's 8th birthday!?!?!?!?!?!?! She's got her day all planned out...and it will include a trip to grandma's to bake her cake (an orange bundt cake in the shape of a chrysanthemum); a trip to the coffee shop for "kaffe klatch"; presents; and baked potatoes for dinner. Her actual party - "the party of cheese" will be Saturday after market. Festivities/activities will include: pinata whacking (we got a clown head pinata, couldn't find Dora the Exporer - she really wanted to whack Dora...very disappointing) Hangman, icecream making (in the soccer ball ice cream maker) a jungle themed tea party, silly hats and cheese....lots and lots of cheeeese (I do like a nice Wendsleydale Grommit)
and yes, I have decided to start counting WW points again....after her party....

WTF HAPPENED????

to spring!?!?!? it was 98 effin'g degrees today! I got a sunburn at market, I think I have heatstroke (my brain feels a bit like a dehydrated pea rolling around in my cranium)...by the time we got home in the heat, the $5 worth of crickets that we bought were about .50 cents (the other $4.50 - apparantly 'sploded in the heat) and Obama didn't come to the market :(
phooey
I'm going to go drown my sorrows with some Buffy now....

cross your fingers for me...

Obama is going to be in our little burg today! Of course we didn't hear about it, or the fact that tickets are required for the town hall meeting, until yesterday so we won't be able to make it :(
I did have a dream though...that he came to the Farmer's Market and bought a peace sign necklace for his wife Michelle. How coooool would that be?????
In any case I'm taking the camera with me to market today....just in case

TGIF!!! FROGGIES!!!

Thank you LGK for taking pictures of our wee froggletts...I think this is Akimbo (and we think she's a she...the females apparently have more sticky-outty legs) We've got about 6 of these little guys now and they're about an inch long. Today she ate some ants, and tomorrow we have to go buy them some "wingless fruit flies" at the pet store.....eeeeewwww!
In other news I would like to throw my hands up and give a big hell yeah and a TGIF!!! I actually worked all 5 of my scheduled shifts this week (rather than giving any away)...I reached "critical mass" around 9:30 tonight and I am hellaciously glad that I have the next few days off.

Lot's of fun stuff planned for my long weekend too. Iron Man tomorrow. Market as usual on Saturday....and Sunday is Madalyn's "Wacky Hat Soiree" (I can't wait to show off my viking helmet, complete with handmade braided wig!!) We're hoping to make a jaunt to the coast on Monday too - Fergie's first trip to the ocean (I predict he will bark at it) and big Ringo loooooves the water

Today the temperatures went through the roof! I sure do miss the 4 seasons...we only seem to get two these days...last week it was rainy; just a few weeks ago it snowed..and today....97 degrees!! Thank goodness for slurpees!!
Peace Out

"belated"...

...that should be my middle name! It always seems that despite my best of intentions and careful planning, I'm always a little bit "belated"... with that in mind I wish my loyal "mommy" readers (all 3 of you) a belated Mommy's day. And if you're not a mommy, I wish you a happy day anyway, because there is undoubtedly someone or something out there that you are a "mommy" to...that you nurture and love...whether it's your kitty or your garden, your kids or your partner's kids, your s.o. or the mold in your shower...you care for someone and I salute you!
That being said, my mother's day kind of blew. The morning was great! I was treated to a delicious breakfast of Nutella Pancakes (YUMM-O) fakin' bacon and perfect eggs. Then, as I do almost every Sunday, I took a delicious nap! I talked to my delightfully eccentric Oma on the phone and we picked some flowies & delivered them to the MIL...it was nice and mellow & groovy...then...I had to go to work...and let me just say that there are few things I hate more than "Shennanigans" on a holiday. I won't get into details because I've moved on but...suffice it to say "it sucked". (I was reminded though that the casino on Mother's day is even worse...I'll never forget the player who told his cute little momma, the woman who gave him life that she was bad luck and gave her $5 to go play slots and leave him alone...ON MOTHER's DAY!!!) anyhooo. so last night sucked but the weekend was nice over all...
Friday we went to see Speed Racer, and I was pleasantly surprised that I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. I knew LGK would love it...because, well, he's LGK...and the kids started geeking out in anticipation of it with their father a couple of weeks ago...truth be told I would have rather seen Iron Man but SR was cute and had a better story line than I expected...A bit overwhelming visually though....a bit like eating too many cocoa puffs and going to the carnival.
Let's see...what else.
Market went well this weekend...Mike & Madalyn (the inlaws) have joined me now selling their ceramics & stained glass. It's fun being a part of the market as it grows....and as LGK points out...if we're stuck here in the back water we might as well make the best of it.

We have frogs! Primo, Secundo and Akimbo have sprouted front and back legs and are absorbing their tails as I write this. M & M are quite enthralled by their antics...(they are pretty cute with their little sticky toes!) I think there are still about 7 or so taddies that are a little bit behind the curve metamorphically speaking but soon we'll be swimming in frogs! (What are we going to do with all of them!?!?!)
Ooooh and I discovered a new recycle-craft...made some "plarn" that's plastic yarn...(I cribbed the idea from this great site http://www.myrecycledbags.com grocery bags...and crocheted some tote bags (for mother's day gifts)...they're pretty cool...I only wish I could find bags in more colors...maybe I'll get on http://www.freecycle.org/ and see if anyone in the area has a collection they want to part with

well that's all for now...smoochie boochies y'all gotta get to work!

I always get a little wound up the night before market and I can't sleep....so....

I was just organizing some pictures and thought I'd post these of some "custom" jobs I've done in the past little bit
From left to right: personalized tags for Freddie & Bowie (dig the Rock n Roll reference!!) who are a couple of "yet-to-be-purchased" Bengals for a gal in Canada; The olive is actually a dog tag too...for a puppy named....Olive; and the beach scene was a custom for an AppleBuddy

This is Storm.

Isn't he gorgeous? He was actually the recipient of my first personalized dog tag..you can just barely see it...it was his owner's idea and I have to give her credit! I've actually sold more of those than just about anything else on etsy and I just agreed to donate a free tag to the local SPCA to include with their adoption packets :)

In other news;
watched Cry Baby on DVD last night and was re-affirmed and re-born if you will in my love of all things Johnny. Although I think it's terribly unfair that he has such nice skin because he apparently smokes like a chimney! Perhaps he has made an anti-aging deal with the devil, similiarly to David Bowie???? hmmmm
Tomorrow is the monthly celebration at the market...should be a good day. good weather in the forcast and apparently a 19 piece brass band!! oy vey
The Petten-bornes are coming over for dinner & gaming/movie watching tomorrow. I'm quite looking forward to White Noise 2 (not for any cinematic value..purely because it's got Captain Tighty Pants (Nathan Fillion) in it!)
Fergie is recovering nicely from his "procedure". He hates his medicine with a violent passion (much as he hates anything that requires him being held still or confined: like trimming his nails etc.) He was groggy and cuddly yesterday but today he's back to his usual leaping, bounding and yapping at anything/anyone who enters our culde sac.
And
the tadpoles have legs now!!!! and they're getting FAT. I predict full frog-dom next week sometime
It's an exciting life people!!!
